Unchained Soul Lord of Yama

Rogue

Link, Fiend

Unchained

The deck focuses on destroying their own cards to activate their effects. It has two main forms of removal: destruction, and using the opponent's monsters as link material.

General Counter Tips:

Cards that a) remove or mitigate GY effects, or b) remove the monsters on the GY (ex. Bystials, D.D. Crow) are good tools against them.

Non-Destruction removal is probably the best against them, cards like Evenly Matched are most useful for breaking their boards.

Removing Unchained Soul Lord of Yama Unchained Soul Lord of Yama from GY mitigates extension and/or recovery, it is also a good impermanence/veiler target, as many variant use additional engines that enable Yama to access the archetype.

Unchained Soul of Rage Unchained Soul of Rage can only activate on Main phase, removing it prior to it, or as it activates, prevents it.

Card Chokepoint Explanation Impact Link
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Any special summon from deck. Most Unchained Cards, when destroyed, have a trigger effect that specials summons from deck, if they lack any extender, you can completely stop the deck. Most builds include options for extending, so it may not completely prevent a combo. Usable View Edit

Unchained Soul of Shyama

Unchained Soul of Shyama

Banishing Shyama prevents caesar as well as removes a lot of grind game. It is best to banish it before it activates its effect to prevent the destruction of the targeted card. This cuts their grind game and makes rank 6 harder to make unless they use additional engines.

Banishing Yama prevents them from reviving stuff, but doesn't change the end board. Do it if you can layer it with another interruption, otherwise it prevents subobtimal lines and potential grind/recovery.

Evenly Matched Stablished Field Unchained as an archetype lacks any negation, it can be suplemented by Fiendsmith, but it is often used to access an early D/D/D High King Wave Caesar. Thus, a non-destruction Board Wipe cleans most of their board, they may still have some grind potencial with Sharvara as a Caesar Material and Shyama in GY, but they will have issues against a stablished board from that point. Unchained Soul Lord of Yama

Unchained Soul Lord of Yama
Lord Yama is used as a bridge to access the deck/engine; as it can be made with any two Fiends. Engines suchs as Tour Guide, Dark Beckoning Beast or Fiendsmith are used to achieve it. If you interrupt them you can mitigate/prevent them from accessing that part of the deck. Usable View Edit
Mulcharmy Fuwalos Start of their combo Most Main deck Unchained cards summon from deck when destroyed (monsters can also summon from hand), this makes them prime targets for Fuwalos. The Unchained player is incentivized to limit its plays. Great View Edit
