Trickstar
Primarily a burn deck. Their field spell is a non-hard once per turn effect that searches in archetype monsters and inflicts extra burn damage if Trickstar monsters use their burn effect. Their main monsters are Candina and Lycoris that burn the player on spell/trap activation or adding cards to their hand they also possess the ability to swap with another member from field to hand hence able to deal considerable battle damage. They have access to support cards that can disrupt opposing plays, including dumping hands or preventing activation of set cards. because their ss abilities and burn strategy requires only a small trickstar core they are also used as link engines or run pure with many generic negates/hand traps
General Counter Tips:
With cards like Candina, Hoody, Drummatis, and Noble Angel all being searchers, this deck cannot handle being Drolled. Ash on Candina is the best bet, since she only activates on Normal Summon and is the one who often gets the whole show started. Nibiru is also problematic as the deck has no negation in-archetype and the extenders require a name/condition on field, although a smart *pure* Trickstar player may hold a Festival (or Magical Laurel) for this moment. GY hate can be solid, banishing Drummatis from GY with a card like D.D. Crow will turn off Noble Angel's revival effect.
Maxx "C" is a double edged sword, depending on the deck. Older/burn-centric builds may be on 3 Lycoris, and you will soon find yourself drawing and burning yourself to death. However, the interruption you are on might stop them dead. More modern builds play 0-1 Lycoris, so the burn threat is far less. Regardless, it's risky, and depends on the contents of both players's decks.
Do note that if you're trying to counter their effect damage or trying to negate, all Trickstar burn effects except for Foxglove Witch, Bella Madonna, and Divaridis do not start a chain. Lycoris WILL burn you in draw phase, for instance, and since there's no activation, even cards that would respond to an instance of effect damage will not be usable.
Pure Trickstar has the ability to FTK by repeatedly summoning to Holly Angel's Link Arrows, or at least do massive amounts of damage that will put you at a dangerous life total. However, Holly Angel does nothing on her own except become very large and protect the monsters she points to, so she's typically only summoned if a hand can FTK. A good rule of thumb is this: if your opponent leads with Trickstar Festival to summon Holly Angel, they're most likely trying to FTK, if they make Noble Angel, they're not. Play accordingly.

| Trickstar Candina or Trickstar Hoody | Negating a Normal Summon search effect is strong. Some may wait for Hoody, which is also pretty solid. Never Ash the Field Spell, it's a soft once per turn. | Great | View Edit | |
| Trickstar Hoody's summon from hand activation. | Be very, very careful about activating it. A burn-focused Trickstar deck will take full advantage of your draws by summoning 2-3 Lycoris and FTK you. However, modern lists usually only play 0-1 Lycoris now, since she produces no extra field presence for Link plays. If you know your opponent is on Lycoris, don't use it or be cautious. If the Trickstar player searches Hoody with Candina, you're safer to use it. | Bad | View Edit |
