Vanquish Soul K9
- VSK9 is a control deck that gains advantage each turn through searches (
Vanquish Soul Razen,
Vanquish Soul Jiaolong), Special Summons (
Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue), and draws (
Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger). It disrupts the opponent’s board on their turn with destruction from
Vanquish Soul Razen (monsters on same column),
Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius (any card on field), and
Vanquish Soul Snow Devil (all monsters), while also stealing monsters with
Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue.
- K9 help the deck to insulate against monster hand traps, and easier access to Rank 5 pool, with many powerful monsters like:

K9-17 "Ripper" (negate monster effect in hand/GY). Also can search K9 card for extender, and set
K9-X Forced Release - Quick Play Spell XYZ Evolution tool and non-targeting destroy, and can return every turn from GY.

- VS monsters activate it's effect by having the right combination of attributes in their hand (among Fire, Dark and Earth)

General Counter Tips:
- Pay attention to the cards they revealed, since that is crucial info on what they have and plan your plays accordingly.
- VS monsters can easy dodge targeted effect, by bouncing it to hand with big VS monsters (
Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius &
Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger (note:
Rock of the Vanquisher is not a Vanquish Soul monsters, so cannot by bounced). However, it is in Main Phase only, and only up to 2 times per turn (with 2 big VS monsters)
- Monster hand trap generally is ineffective against K9, due to it can trigger K9 monsters's effect, and
K9-17 "Ripper" can negate monster effect in hand and GY
- Monster-destruction-type board breaker is ineffective against Vanquish Soul, due to
Vanquish Soul, Start! and
Vanquish Soul Snow Devil can protect VS monsters. However, it still can clear K9 board (including XYZ monsters)
- VSK9 don't have Omni negate or S/T negate. So most of the time, your S/T can be resolved successfully. Take advantage of that for S/T board breaker (Evenly Matched, Book of Eclipse...)
- Pay attention to collumn when summon monster, to avoid by destroyed by
Vanquish Soul Razen (monsters on same collumn). The rule of thumb is playing your monsters in column already occupied by their monsters, especially the Rock or Caesar/Borger.
- Baiting out Ash Blossom makes it harder for them to access a FIRE Attribute monster for their effects, and it also reveals a target for

Evenly Matched is an actual trap card, so cannot be negated by Ripper. Banish the whole field stop their grind game. Normally, the only card they keep is the trap Snow Devil, and you have to deal with it, another VS monster it summon, and high possibility of Hollie Sue summon Razen pop, Caesar Vallius pop. | Usable | View Edit | |
